More Movement, More Life

OntheMUV’s mission is to provide accessible, safe and effective fitness solutions, helping older adults, and those with mobility limitations maintain strength, cardiovascular health, and the independence to remain active and live their best lives.

As we age, we lose muscle mass, and this typically results in a loss of strength. Sitting as many hours daily as most of us do can result in a decrease in blood circulation, which is also proven to affect memory, focus and cognitive skills.  Founders, Joanna Medin and Patrick Netter, both watched the decline of their parents and know that if the miniTREAD had been available at that time, it could have had life changing results. We are passionate about helping millions improve their health and keep moving…while seated.

A Muving mission

"This is really working my legs right now. As active as I am too, that really, really surprises me because I'm walking or climbing, constantly."

A case study was completed onsite at the VA Community Living Center, a Skilled Nursing Facility. The VA sponsored a 3-step study to build strength and ambulate patients using Onthemuv products. Starting with a patient using the miniTREAD while sitting on the bed, they then moved to use the miniTREAD from a chair, and when ready, the patient walked upright.

Hear from an Expert in Rejuvenaging®: Growing Older with Enthusiasm

Dr. ron Kaiser

"Growing older is not a spectator sport! As healthy and active as I am in my 80s, I was surprised and excited to learn how the miniTREAD has been able to improve my fitness level by giving me a great workout while seated. The miniTREAD will provide opportunities for countless numbers of my peers to stay active, get healthier, and age with enthusiasm— which is something I'm knowledgeable and passionate about."

Ron Kaiser, Ph.D. is a positive health psychologist, coach, author, podcaster, educator, consultant and speaker. He is Chief Psychology Officer at BellAge, a company devoted to increasing the wellbeing of older adults through the use of AI and other new technologies. He also partners with Onthemuv to create awareness of the miniTREAD and its benefits for the older adult population.

Dr. Ron has been in practice for more than five decades, including 25 years as Director of Psychology at the world-famous Jefferson Headache Center, affiliated with the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. As an innovative thought leader in the field, he has developed the concepts of The Mental Health Gym, Goal-Achieving Psychotherapy (GAP), The Type P Personality, and REJUVENAGING.

Dr. Ron’s positive goal-oriented approach has enabled thousands of individuals to overcome medical, psychological, and self-imposed limitations and become better versions of themselves by following The Mental Health Gym’s philosophy and practices. His ideas and approaches have been described in his books: WHAT CAN GO RIGHT: The Thinking Person’s Guide to Making Good Things Happen, The Mental Health Gym Playbook, and most recently, REJUVENAGING: The Art and Science of Growing Older with Enthusiasm.

The major focus of his work in recent years has been on the concept of REJUVENAGING to enable those in life’s 2nd half-century to lead lifestyles that are balanced, engaged, and physically and mentally healthy. He is passionate about promoting older adulthood as an age of growth and not decline.

Dr Ron lives in Philadelphia, and his proudest accomplishments are the relationships that he enjoys with Libby, his wife of 50+ years, and their children and grandchildren.

Why Dr. Kaiser believes the miniTREAD will fit seamlessly into senior facilities

When it comes to the aging process, I am all about promoting well-being and enhancing longevity. The evidence is very clear on the positive role that exercise plays – not only in the promotion of physical health, but also brain health. In that regard, I am happy to endorse and encourage use of the miniTREAD for seniors and the facilities that serve them. Here’s why.

picture collage of people using miniTREAD in different settings: Work at desk, sitting on the edge of a bed, in a workout room, and while watching tv.

Among the innovations that cater to the unique needs of seniors, the miniTREAD seated treadmill is a unique product in the health promotion space. The miniTREAD’s compact, lightweight, and easy to use design is a beneficial solution to enable cardio/aerobic exercise and health for older adults who may have mobility, balance, or endurance issues that may limit their ability to walk.

Seniors living in older adult communities or assisted living facilities often have limited space, and traditional equipment may be too bulky and difficult to move around. However, the miniTREAD can easily be stored when not in use and can be brought out and set up in minutes. The fact that it is used while seated is advantageous for seniors who may have difficulty standing for extended periods of time. They can use it from a comfortable secure seat of their choosing (i.e., chair, stool, scooter, walker with a seat, wheelchair). Seniors who my feel overwhelmed or intimidated by complex exercise machines will easily adapt to its simple and intuitive controls.

Overall, the convenience alone makes it an exceptional addition to senior living settings as it allows seniors to exercise in the comfort of their rooms or in communal areas without the need for bulky or complicated exercise equipment. The miniTREAD can help seniors maintain their independence, improve their physical and mental well-being, and enhance their overall quality of life. In addition, if monitoring by staff is required, the demand for doing so is markedly reduced compared with taking residents for walks.

I didn't think just sitting and moving your legs could have this much of an effect. I immediately felt it in my glutes, quads and even my core. This would also be great for my brother as he could walk without feeling like he's going to fall.
